One of the attractions of train travel during childhood was the Weighing Scale on the railway stations. The bright neon lights,colorful rings which rotated when one stood on the scale. For the weight measurement a 10 paisa coin was inserted in the slot,there would be blinking of lights,some rings would rotate,some mechanical sounds could be heard and voila..a thick cardboard ticket would come out. The ticket on one side would mention the weight and on the other side a photograph of a film actor along with future prediction for the day was printed. All the family members would get themselves weighed & all the tickets became my prized possession.
On a recent travel by train,saw this scale -same old colorful blinking lights,bright metal rings….though did not find anyone climbing on it to measure the weight but the memories came alive…
